A Brass and Walnut Box Inspired by the Farnsworth House

The Farnsworth House by Mies Van Der Rohe succinctly illustrated his rationalist approach to modern architecture.

The Planar Box in Bastogne Walnut and brushed brass was greatly inspired by the Farnsworth House.  Vertical, brass columns live the horizontal box off the surface of a desk or table top and attach with no visible connections.

The interior of the box is recessed and can be milled to house various items such as these gold cufflinks created by artist David Wiseman.

The seamless design married with precise craftsmanship obscure the opening of the lid which can be easily accomplished with one hand.

If desired, the Planar Box can be modified to stack vertically.

Or, however you would like.
